Born in Port Elizabeth, South Africa in 1969. As a youngster it was evident that I was destined to become an artist. In 2004 I settled in Cornwall with my husband and our two children. The natural beauty of Cornwall gives me the opportunity to explore its dramatic rural landscape and the light, coastal atmosphere. I am easily stimulated by the world around me, observing people, animals and nature. I am most fascinated by the study of the human form and often manipulate this outward appearance of a subject to the point of suggesting a message or describing an emotion in paint. This is why I believe that art has become an expressive language which often drives me to the extreme. The viewer must walk away from a painting and laugh or be moved. It is different when I paint animals. I only have one personal rule; it has got to be whimsical and soulful.
I am self motivated and endlessly captivated by the vibrancy of South Africa, the permutation of nature and people is a vibrant palette that will always stay with me. Over the years the impressionist artists inspired me the most. Like these artists I found that the illusion of a subject or scene created is a more important challenge and I enjoy the effects this has on the senses.
I work as a self-represented Artist selling my artwork internationally.
